    On 20 September 2018 in Astana, the Ambassador Gong Jianwei, Executive Director of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) had a meeting with Mr.Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, on the occasion of the completion of his diplomatic mission.
    K.Tokayev noted the great personal contribution of Ambassador Gong Jianwei to the revitalization of the Secretariat and thanked the Chinese side for the effective support of CICA, especially during the Chairmanship of this forum.
    According to the speaker of the Senate, due to the significant contribution of the Peoples’s republic of China, CICA has become an effective tool for ensuring regional security, has demonstrated its viability and has become an important factor in the involvement of Asian states in the global system of confidence-building measures.
    In turn, the CICA Executive Director thanked the Kazakh authorities and personally the Senate speaker for the constant care and support of the Secretariat in its daily work, as well as during the relocation of the Secretariat from Almaty to Astana.
    The Chinese diplomat mentioned that years of work as the Executive Director of the CICA have become a bright milestone in his biography, and upon his return to his homeland he will make all possible efforts to ensure that the CICA Forum plays ever more important role in strengthening of the Asian and international security system, initiated in 1992 by the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev.
