Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi received the Executive Director of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Ambassador Kairat Sarybay on 13 April 2022.
The parties thoroughly discussed the ways of supporting implementation of priorities of Kazakhstan Chairmanship in CICA, progress in implementation of confidence building measures and outcomes of the Senior Officials Committee held on 30 March 2022. The CICA Executive Director also briefed about his visits to CICA Member States and upcoming activities within the framework of the Conference.
Mukhtar Tileuberdi stressed the importance of continuing consistent work on the incremental transformation of CICA into a full-fledged international organization, as a strategic goal of the Kazakh Chairmanship. He highlighted the need for high-quality preparation and holding of the 6th CICA Summit, which would be held on 12-13 October 2022 in Nur-Sultan. Activities of the Business Council, Business Forum and Youth Council were also discussed.
The parties confirmed their intention to working closely in order to promote the initiatives of the Kazakhstan Chairmanship across the CICA’s security agenda as well as to increase visibility of CICA in the international arena.
