It is crucial to have a critical view of the situation in Asia to strengthen further and increase the effectiveness of CICA

On 20 April 2022, CICA Executive Director Ambassador Kairat Sarybay met with a newly appointed Director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerkin Tukumov at the CICA Secretariat.

Ambassador Sarybay noted the importance of high-quality analytical support for CICA activities to strengthen further and increase the effectiveness of the forum.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the Concept of CICA transformation into a full-fledged international organization, which was widely supported by the Member States.

The parties agreed that as a full-fledged international organization, CICA would become a more effective instrument for the practical implementation of CICA principles and objectives, strengthen connectivity in the Asian continent, expand opportunities for building confidence and cooperation, and consolidate the contribution and strengthen the role of Asian states in the global security architecture.

Therefore, interaction with think tanks and research institutions on CICA-related issues, including through joint research and exchange of experience to analyze current trends and ensure timely response, was highlighted as essential.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue cooperation and hold expert meetings regularly.
