Preparations for the Sixth Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) to be held on 12-13 October 2022 in Astana and finalization of the outcome documents included in its agenda were at the core of discussions of the Special Working Group (SWG) meeting held on 28-29 September 2022 in the capital of Kazakhstan.
At the meeting chaired by Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Talgat Kaliyev, SWG participants made significant progress in their work on the draft Astana Statement on CICA Transformation, the draft CICA Leaders’ Statement on Cooperation in the Field of Security of and in the Use of ICTs and the draft CICA Plan of Action on the Implementation of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.
Moreover, the SWG has completed consideration of the draft concept paper on the Human Dimension and submitted the document to the CICA Senior Officials Committee for approval.
The SWG will continue its preparatory work in the first ten-day period of October in an online format.
