On November 17, 2020 the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, received the Executive Director of the CICA Secretariat, Mr. Kairat Sarybay.


The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, received the Executive Director of the CICA Secretariat, Mr. Kairat Sarybay on November 17, 2020.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev focused on the tasks related to the institutional development of the Conference and increasing its role in ensuring regional and global security amid the increased challenges and threats. The Leader of Kazakhstan reaffirmed Chairmanship's readiness to give a new impetus to the work of the Conference and expressed full support for the efforts aimed at achieving the common goals of the CICA Member States and the Secretariat. 

The interlocutors noted that CICA has emerged as an effective platform for 27 Member States to discuss and make decisions to ensure stability and cooperation on the Asian continent for 30 years since its initiation by the First President of Kazakhstan, Mr. Nursultan Nazarbayev.

The Chairmanship's priorities are aimed at further development of the CICA founded upon the Concept of common, comprehensive, sustainable, indivisible and equal security in Asia, based on the universally recognized principles of international law.

The Executive Director, Mr. Kairat Sarybay informed about the implementation of the Confidence Building Measures by the Member States, efforts on further institutionalization of the Forum, internationalization of diplomatic and expert workforce of the Secretariat, increase of the CICA visibility.  The interlocutors discussed substantive and organizational aspects of the preparation to the Sixth CICA Summit, to be held in Kazakhstan in 2022.
