On December 3, 2019 Executive Director of the CICA Secretariat Mr. Habibullo Mirzozoda held a meeting with First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Shakhrat Nuryshev.


On December 3, 2019, the Executive Director of the CICA Secretariat H. Mirzozoda met with the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sh.Nuryshev.

The parties discussed the state and development prospects of the CICA, the progress in the implementation of instructions given by the Heads of State during the Fifth CICA Summit in Dushanbe (June 15, 2019).

Sh.Nuryshev noted that the idea of ​​the CICA as a universal platform for discussing a wide range of issues of cooperation and security in Asia, was proposed by the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev, and remains in the focus of attention of the foreign ministry of Kazakhstan. He stressed that Kazakhstan will continue the policy of comprehensive institutional, financial and intellectual support to the CICA process. Sh. Nuryshev called on all CICA member states to contribute to the overdue reforming and raising the status of CICA, saturating its activities with new projects aimed at wider and active involvement of all CICA participants in the processes of making and implementing decisions of the forum. He also called for increasing the awareness of CICA through intensifying coverage of the CICA's work in the media, social networks, and also - through a more active presentation of the forum at international events, in which the leadership and members of the CICA Secretariat participate. Sh. Nuryshev emphasized that the Catalog of Confidence-Building Measures, approved by all 27 CICA member states, is a universal instrument for achieving the set goals.  

The Executive Director of the Secretariat H. Mirzozoda informed the interlocutor about the preparations for the meeting of senior officials of the CICA (CSO), which is expected to be held in December 2019 in Chongqing (PRC). He also informed that on the eve of the CSO there will be a meeting of the "troika", consisting of the previous, current and future chairman of the CICA, the purpose of which is to ensure institutional memory and continuity in the work of the CICA. H. Mirzozoda also informed that the Third Conference of the Forum of Non-Governmental Organizations of the CICA Member States will be held together with the CSO meeting. H. Mirzozoda also emphasized that he supports the idea of ​​a comprehensive expansion of the geographical distribution of the Secretariat staff to ensure a more adequate representation of the CICA member states.  He also stressed that Tajikistan is committed to the policy of strengthening regional cooperation and is increasingly involved in the processes of regional cooperation. In 2020, Tajikistan will assume the chairmanship of IFAS (International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea), which is an important forum uniting all Central Asian states.

      The parties agreed to continue work on unlocking the potential of CICA as a broad multinational platform, the values ​​of which are trust, cooperation and security in Asia.
