On 8 August 2024, the Chairmanship of Kazakhstan at the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) and the CICA Secretariat held the first meeting of the Project Review Committee (PRC) of the CICA Fund.
Establishment of the CICA Fund was one of the early initiatives of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev put forward in 2019 and materialized at the Sixth CICA Summit in 2022.
At the first PRC meeting Member States were briefed about the Fund’s goals and modalities of identification, funding and implementation of CICA project activities. The Fund is open for project proposals and voluntary contributions from CICA Member States and external donors.
The Kazakh Chairmanship also mentioned some draft project proposals that are being developed with the assistance of the CICA Secretariat and other international organizations.
