28 August 2024 – Astana, Kazakhstan – Ceremony of signing a memorandum on cooperation in the construction of separate headquarters for the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Astana was held at the CICA Secretariat.
The memorandum defines the main areas of cooperation between Sensata Group, Akimat of Astana, JSC "Social-enterprise corporation "Astana" and the CICA Secretariat in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the new building, including general coordination and monitoring of the project implementation.
Commissioning of the building is expected in June 2025. International advanced practices with an ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) approach will be applied in the construction of the headquarters.
Construction of the CICA headquarters is an important step in the process of transforming CICA into a full-fledged international organization, launched by the Sixth CICA Summit in October 2022.
Earlier, on 26 June 2024, a foundation stone laying ceremony was held at the site of the new headquarters, where a time capsule containing a message for the future CICA staff was placed.
Building a separate premises for the CICA Secretariat is the initiative of President of Kazakhstan K. Tokayev. This is a significant contribution to further strengthening this pan-Asian organization which has its Secretariat in Kazakhstan since 2006.
