6-7 November 2024 – Moscow, Russia – The Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of the Russian Federation (Rostechnadzor), with the support of the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), successfully held a two-day workshop titled “Safety first. Safety regulation in mining industry, innovative technologies”. The event brought together top specialists and representatives from relevant supervisory agencies of nine CICA Member States, as well as experts from industrial companies and scientific institutions.
The workshop aimed to discuss current issues and share experiences to boost safety and improve the efficiency of control and supervisory activities in the mining industry. The workshop participants covered a wide range of topics, including emergency response management, interaction between regulatory bodies and industrial companies, as well as the use of innovative and digital technologies to enhance the accident-free production system.
While welcoming the participants, the representative of the CICA Secretariat thanked the Rostechnadzor team for the excellent organization of the event, highlighting the Russian Federation's active role in implementing confidence building measures and expressing appreciation for its ongoing support for the CICA process as a whole.
The workshop included presentations by heads and specialists from the supervisory services of Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Egypt and Azerbaijan, who shared their experiences in promoting a safety culture at industrial facilities.
The event underlined the importance of international cooperation and knowledge-sharing in industrial safety, in line with the “Natural disaster management” priority area (coordinated by Iran) under the CICA Environmental Dimension.
