Astana, 15 November 2024 – Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu and CICA Secretary General Ambassador Kairat Sarybay signed the Protocol on Amendments to the 2007 Host Country Agreement between the Government of Kazakhstan and the CICA Secretariat regarding the Terms and Conditions of the Secretariat's Location in the Territory of Kazakhstan. The document was developed as part of the implementation of the road map for transforming CICA into a full-fledged international organization, following the decision of the Sixth CICA Summit in Astana on 13 October 2022.
The main aim of the amendments is to boost the international standing of the Secretariat in line with the practices of United Nations organizations, align working conditions with global standards and internationalize the Secretariat’s staff.
The signing of this Protocol represents a significant contribution by Kazakhstan to the development and strengthening of CICA as an international organization focused on dialogue, cooperation and regional stability in Asia.
