Bangladesh, 23 December 2024 — The Bangladesh Computer Council, Information and Communication Technology Division, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, with support from the CICA Secretariat, hosted the CICA Seminar on Information Technology in a hybrid format. The event brought together representatives from various line agencies and ministries of CICA Member States.
Mr. Shish Haider Chowdhury, Secretary of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division, delivered opening remarks emphasizing the role of ICT in driving national growth. He highlighted the importance of collaboration among Member States in the IT sector to address rising digital disparities and empower citizens. This unified approach to sharing knowledge and perspectives aims to build trust and foster cooperation among Member States.
CICA Deputy Secretary General Mrs. Zhang Ling underscored the significance of enhancing confidence among Member States by exchanging knowledge and expertise in the priority area of Information Technology, particularly in an increasingly dynamic and rapidly changing global landscape. She commended Bangladesh’s active role as co-coordinator of the IT priority area under CICA’s economic dimension.
Mr. Mohamed Attiyah from Egypt presented on the growth story of Egypt’s IT sector. Representatives from the EDGE Project and the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology of Bangladesh also shared insights through their presentations, titled Bangladesh’s Success in ICT Innovation and Development: Impact on Global Cooperation and 4th Industrial Revolution: Bangladesh Perspective, respectively.
The seminar highlighted the vital role of IT in fostering regional collaboration, with CICA and its Member States, including Bangladesh, championing initiatives to bridge digital disparities and empower citizens.
