CICA Secretary General participates as an international observer in Belarus’ presidential election




The Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), H.E. Kairat Sarybay, participated as an international observer in the presidential election in Belarus, which is a CICA Observer State. During his visit, the Secretary General observed voting procedures at polling stations in Minsk and Nyasvizh, commending the well-organized election process and active participation of the electorate. H.E. Kairat Sarybay expressed gratitude to Belarus for the invitation to observe this significant event.

During his visit he held a productive meeting with H.E. Maxim Ryzhenkov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, to convey his appreciation and discuss key topics of mutual interest. The discussion with Minister Ryzhenkov highlighted CICA’s pivotal role in shaping Asia’s security architecture and the vision for a Eurasian Charter for Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st century, an initiative jointly proposed by Russia and Belarus.

As part of his programme, the Secretary General visited Belarusian State University (BSU) and had an insightful meeting with its Rector, Professor Andrei Karol. During the meeting, he briefed the Rector on CICA’s evolution, its current agenda and the importance of CICA’s Partnership Network of Leading Universities (PNLU) initiative. The parties agreed to collaborate closely to deepen the interest of future Belarusian diplomats in Asia and its regional dynamics.
