CICA highlights regional synergy and sustainable growth at 81st ESCAP session in Bangkok




Bangkok, 21 April 2025 - The Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA),  Ambassador Kairat Sarybay, is undertaking a trip to Bangkok to participate in the eighty-first session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), held under the theme “Regional cooperation for resilient and sustainable urban development in Asia and the Pacific”.

This year’s ESCAP session provides a high-level platform for ministers and key stakeholders from across the region to exchange views on current and emerging policy issues in support of inclusive and sustainable development. It also reinforces regional efforts to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels.

Ambassador Kairat Sarybay will deliver remarks during the high-level dialogue on subregional perspectives, where he will address “Current and Emerging Policy Issues for Inclusive and Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific”. In his intervention, he will reflect on CICA’s multidimensional engagement in fostering resilient and inclusive urban development, emphasizing areas such as the promotion of small and medium-sized enterprises, food and energy security, and digitalization, as well as disaster risk management, environmental protection and sustainable development.

Throughout the visit, Ambassador Sarybay is also scheduled to hold a series of bilateral meetings with senior representatives of Thai ministries, as well as regional and international organizations. These meetings will focus on further advancing CICA’s agenda in line with the Azerbaijani Chairmanship priorities and exploring avenues for deepening collaboration across multiple dimensions of regional cooperation.

CICA’s participation in the 81st ESCAP session reaffirms its commitment to advancing inclusive development and regional cooperation as core components of a more resilient, peaceful, and interconnected Asia.
