Astana, 28 May 2025 – The Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Ambassador Kairat Sarybay met with a Chinese delegation led by President of the China International Communications Group (CICG) Mr. Du Zhanyuan. The parties acknowledged the established permanent contact between the CICG and the CICA Secretariat, aimed at implementing joint projects in the areas of cultural exchange, youth and other fields.
Secretary General Kairat Sarybay thanked the Government of the People’s Republic of China for its continuous support to CICA and its significant contribution to the development and strengthening of the organization. He also highlighted the CICG’s noble mission to promote friendship, dialogue and cooperation, which corresponds to the philosophy of CICA. K. Sarybay briefed his counterpart on CICA’s extensive agenda in the context of the priorities of the Azerbaijani Chairmanship, focusing on preparations for the Seventh Summit in Baku in 2026.
In turn, Mr. Du Zhanyuan confirmed the commitment of the CICG to develop cooperation within the framework of CICA. This is evidenced by the initiative to translate the book “Tales of Asia” into Chinese, as well as a number of other promising joint projects.
Mr. Du informed about the objectives of the Symposium on Governance and Dialogue on Humanitarian Exchanges between China and Central Asian States, which will be held on 30 May 2025 in Astana, thanking the Secretary General for his intention to attend and address the event.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Du handed over to the Secretary General a list of books that will be donated to the library at the new CICA headquarters.
