On the meeting of CICA Executive Director
Ambassador Kairat Sarybay with
Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand in Nur-Sultan

Prospects of enhancing Thailand’s role at CICA platform and issues of inter-regional cooperation within CICA Space were discussed during the courtesy meeting held by CICA Executive Director Ambassador Kairat Sarybay with H.E. Lt. Chatchawan Sakornsin Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand in Nur-Sultan, on March 16, 2021.
During the meeting, Ambassador K. Sarybay briefed newly arrived Ambassador on recent developments and initiatives in CICA process. He also underlined the proprieties and vision of CICA Chairmanship and highlighted the potential of CICA to bring regional and sub-regional groupings on one platform to synergize their efforts towards promoting development, peace, security and stability in Asia; and cooperation between CICA and ASEAN can be very useful in this direction.
Ambassador Sakornsin acknowledged the vast untapped potential of multilateral cooperation in the region and CICA can play an important role to exploit that potential. He also supported the idea of establishing interaction between CICA and ASEAN, and assured his full support on realizing this idea.
The interlocutors discussed about the preparations of planned events including 6th Ministerial Meeting of CICA Foreign Ministers proposed in October 2021 and 6th CICA Summit in 2022.
In conclusion, parties agreed to actively cooperate in the implementation of Confidence Building Measures within the CICA framework.
