The People's Republic of China confirmed its continued support and interest in active cooperation within CICA during the online consultations of Executive Director of the CICA Secretariat Ambassador Kairat Sarybay and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Le Yucheng, on April 27, 2021.

Ambassador Kairat Sarybay informed the counterpart about the activities carried out by the Secretariat, the progress made in implementation of the priorities set by the Kazakh Chairmanship, and elaborated on the institutionalization of the Forum and updating process of the Catalogue of Confidence Building Measures.

The parties discussed a wide range of issues related to cooperation within the CICA process, including preparations for the Meeting of Foreign Ministers scheduled for autumn 2021, the Sixth CICA Summit to be held in 2022, as well as the upcoming meetings of the Special Working Group and the Senior Officials Committee.

Vice Minister Le Yucheng noted the need to promote multilateralism and respect for the principles of international law within CICA in order to ensure sustainable security in the Asian region. China called on the member states to actively cooperate in the fight against the pandemic.

In the course of consultations, the Vice Minister and the Executive Director agreed to further enhance the dialogue and ensure close interaction on implementation of CICA confidence building measures.
