Tourism is an important factor in economic development of CICA Member States
Prospects for development of tourism in the post-pandemic period were discussed by representatives of agencies and departments of CICA Member States in an online session on 30 June 2021.
The Forum on the Development of Tourism under the CICA economic dimension was initiated by the Republic of Kazakhstan in order to restore tourism activity and further develop the industry in the region in the post-coronavirus period.
Deputy Executive Director of the CICA Secretariat Chi Fang presented the message of Executive Director Kairat Sarybay to the participants of the Forum, where he noted that measures to contain COVID-19 required not only active engagement at the national level, but also decisive and coordinated efforts of the international community. As he further noted, the approach was consonant with the priority tasks of CICA in the context of discussions on tourism recovery and development prospects in the Asian region in the post-coronavirus period, including through the use of innovation, digitalization, as well as by ensuring sustainability and building partnerships.
Participants of the Forum discussed modern methods of crisis management and the role of information technology in tourism.
As a result of the Forum, the participants agreed to further exchange experience and best practices in the field of tourism recovery.
The event was attended by speakers from Azerbaijan, China, Iran, Palestine, Qatar, Russia, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of tourism institutions and organizations of CICA Member States.
