19 August 2025 – The Arab Republic of Egypt held an online workshop of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) under the title “Advancing Integrated Solutions to Confront the Rising Threat of Extremism Leading to Terrorism”. The event was organized by the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA) in partnership with the Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism.
The purpose of the workshop was to discuss strategies to prevent and counter radicalization and extremism conducive to terrorism, share best practices and lessons learned, identify potential areas for expanding programmes on countering violent extremism and explore challenges and opportunities related to individuals formerly associated with terrorist groups, including their rehabilitation and reintegration needs. The event generated considerable interest among the participants.
The workshop represented Egypt’s significant contribution to the implementation of the priority area of “Combating Terrorism” within the framework of CICA’s confidence building measures. Drawing on its unique experience in countering extremism, Egypt reaffirmed its readiness to share knowledge and thereby advance practical cooperation among CICA Member States.
