CICA Contributes to Discussion on Climate Change & Sustainable Energy at Kazakhstan Energy Week 2025




Astana, 3 October 2025 — The Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), H.E. Amb. Kairat Sarybay, participated in the High-Level Meeting titled “SCO and LAS: Climate Change and Sustainable Energy” held during Kazakhstan Energy Week – 2025 / XVI KAZENERGY Eurasian Forum.

The high-level meeting brought together prominent regional and international stakeholders, including the Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Director of the Department at League of Arab States (LAS), and Ministers and Deputy ministers of Energy and Ecology from such CICA Member States as Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Türkiye.

Discussions centered on the urgent need to adapt energy strategies in response to accelerating global climate change and the growing imperative for sustainable development. Participants exchanged views on the prospects for transitioning to low-carbon energy systems, the expanding role of renewable energy, international financing for green projects, innovative technologies to reduce carbon footprints, and ways to ensure energy security while balancing traditional and renewable sources. They also emphasized the importance of enhancing regional cooperation in climate adaptation.

In his remarks, the CICA Secretary General emphasized the pivotal role of CICA in fostering regional dialogue and cooperation among its Member States on issues of shared concern such as climate change and energy security. Ambassador Kairat Sarybay also highlighted CICA's proactive role in promoting climate action through various initiatives, including thematic conferences, workshops, and seminars that convene experts and policymakers from across the region to share best practices and foster collaboration.

The session served as a vital platform for knowledge exchange and partnership-building, reinforcing the commitment of regional actors to a cooperative and sustainable energy future.
