The CICA Secretariat invites applications for the position of Expert in the Military-Political Dimension

The Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) invites applications for the vacant position of Expert in the Military-Political Dimension. 

 

CICA is an intergovernmental platform with 28 Member States, aimed at promoting peace, security, stability and prosperity in Asia through multilateral cooperation and confidence building measures. The CICA Secretariat, located in Astana, Kazakhstan, serves as the executive body of the organization.

We are seeking an experienced and driven professional who can effectively analyze global and regional military-political developments, identify key trends and challenges, as well as develop recommendations to enhance security and stability in Asia. The ideal candidate should be capable of strategic thinking and able to engage with units within the Secretariat as well as with various external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Monitoring and analyzing current developments, trends and challenges in the military-political dimension across the CICA region and beyond;

 

• Analyzing and assessing events within the CICA military-political dimension proposed by CICA Member States to ensure they align with the interests of all Member States, as well as preparing relevant proposals and recommendations for the CICA Secretary General;

 

• Conducting analysis and providing recommendations on opportunities and prospects for cooperation in the military-political dimension;

 

• Preparing reports and recommendations to promote measures in the military-political dimension on matters related to armed forces, defence budgets, military exercises, consultations on unforeseen and hazardous military incidents, etc.;

 

• Preparing informational materials, including notes, briefing materials and statements;

 

• Taking part in various events, including conferences, seminars, round tables, etc.;

 

• Collecting and analyzing information on the activities of other international organizations and regional fora in the military-political dimension, and providing recommendations to the CICA Secretary General regarding best practices in this area;

 

• Preparing informational and analytical materials, including notes, briefing materials and statements for the CICA Secretary General;

 

• Organizing and conducting seminars, trainings and other events on advancing priority areas in the military-political dimension; 

 

• Conducting a comprehensive analysis of the activities of the Think Tank Forum and developing recommendations.

Our conditions: 

• Competitive salary, 30-day annual leave, medical insurance, and an annual health recreational allowance.

 

• The first contract period is one year, subject to successful completion of a three-month probationary period. Further extension of the contract is subject to performance evaluation.

Requirements:

• Higher education, substantial work experience in government agencies, in diplomatic and/or military-diplomatic service, at a think tank, or in an international organization in the field of military-political affairs or security.   

 

• Proficiency in English at a professional level is required. Knowledge of Russian, an academic degree, an academic and/or military rank, or a high diplomatic rank are considered additional qualifications.
