It is with great honour and pleasure that I express my sincere gratitude to the Government of the People’s Republic of China for another voluntary contribution to the budget of the Secretariat.
We recognize this not only as financial support, but also as an expression of the Chinese political will to strengthen CICA’s capacity for active interaction to ensure peace, security and cooperation in Asia.
China is an active Member State, which has been paying special attention to the development of CICA since the very inception of the Forum. China is the second largest contributor in terms of cumulative voluntary contributions: from 2008 to 2023, China contributed 2,930,000 US dollars (13% of all contributions to the CICA budget).
During the Chairmanship of the People’s Republic of China (2014-2018), CICA received a significant impetus for development and strengthened its potential. In 2014, China took the initiative to convene the CICA Non-Governmental Forum and the CICA Think Tank Forum (TTF), and the CICA Finance Summit was launched.
China is actively involved in the practical implementation of CICA confidence building measures (CBMs) and is a coordinator in the priority areas of “Finance” and “Agriculture” and a co-coordinator in the priority areas of “Security of and in the use of ICTs”, “Epidemiological safety, public health and pharmaceuticals”, “Development of secure and effective systems of transportation corridors”, “Environment protection” and in the human dimension. We hope for further close cooperation with the People’s Republic of China on ensuring practical impact of our association’s activities.
I am confident that China will continue to contribute to the development of CICA and its gradual transformation into a full-fledged international regional organization.
I look forward to our continued fruitful cooperation in the interests of peace and prosperity in Asia.
