Russian and Belarusian ambassadors propose CICA collaboration on new Eurasian security architecture




Astana, 9 July 2024 — Ambassador of Russia Alexey Borodavkin and Ambassador of Belarus Pavel Utyupin paid a visit to Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Ambassador Kairat Sarybay and delivered a joint letter from the Foreign Ministers of Russia and Belarus. The letter invites CICA Member States to start discussions on the principles and parameters of a new Eurasian security architecture that would reflect the current realities of a multipolar world order.

Moreover, Ambassador Utyupin conveyed an invitation from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus to Ambassador Sarybay to take part in the High-level International Conference on Eurasian Security to be held in Minsk in the autumn of 2024.

CICA Secretary General Sarybay noted the usefulness and timeliness of the joint proposal by Russia and Belarus, underlined that CICA Member States share an approach to common, comprehensive, cooperative, sustainable, indivisible and equal security, and gratefully accepted the invitation to participate in the Minsk Conference. The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere of mutual understanding.
