12 July 2024 — Astana, Kazakhstan — CICA Deputy Secretary General Zhang Ling met with Kazakhstan's Vice Minister of Culture and Information Aizada Kurmanova at the CICA headquarters. The parties discussed preparations for the upcoming seventh meeting of the CICA Youth Council at the ministerial level, under the auspices of which the Rally of Volunteer Movement Leaders is planned. This event initiated by the CICA Chair, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, at the Sixth CICA Summit will be held in Astana in early October 2024.
Both parties emphasized the importance of volunteering to strengthen solidarity and promote social progress, unanimously highlighting CICA’s role and wide array of tools in expanding the volunteer movement on a larger scale, particularly involving the youth of the 28 Member States of CICA.
There was a thorough exchange of views on the programme of the event, considering its postponement to October due to floods in Kazakhstan, as well as several new proposals to enrich the event's agenda were discussed.
The Ministry expressed its willingness to closely coordinate with the Secretariat and the Member States to hold the Rally and the Youth Council meeting at a high level, thereby giving a strong impetus to CICA's new area of activity to support and encourage active social engagement in volunteering.
