Final Signing Ceremony of the Road Map for Implementation of 2023-2024 Priorities of Kazakhstan’s CICA Chairmanship




26 July 2024 – Astana, Kazakhstan - The signing ceremony of the Road Map for Implementation of 2023-2024 Priorities of CICA Chairmanship took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, marking the fourth and final signing under the Kazakh Chairmanship before.

The Road Map is a regularly updated action plan for the implementation of the rich agenda of priorities of Kazakhstan’s Chairmanship in CICA and all the tasks assigned to the Secretariat by the Member States of the Organization. Consistent updates ensure timely stock-taking and promotion of unresolved issues, underscoring the dynamic nature of this document.

The document, signed by CICA Secretary General Ambassador Kairat Sarybay and consented by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ambassador Alibek Bakayev, highlights the extensive work by the Chairmanship and the Secretariat over the past year and a half, and outlines algorithms for future actions.

CICA Secretary General Kairat Sarybay spoke about ongoing institutional development initiatives and upcoming events, highlighting the CICA Ministerial Conference on Environmental Issues, scheduled for 28 August 2024, the Rally of Volunteer Movement Leaders of the CICA Member States under the auspices of the СICA Youth Council in October 2024, the CICA Business Council meeting and Business Forum in November in Bishkek, and the 12 CICA Think Tank Forum meeting in Shanghai in the same quarter. The Partnership Network of Leading Universities of CICA Member States is expected to be launched at the 7th Ministerial Council meeting in Baku.

Ambassador Sarybay also spoke about the significant steps made in regards to CICA’s transformation into an full-fledged international organization, namely the creation of a draft CICA Charter, Rules of Procedure, and the Host Country Agreement.
