Astana, 13 October 2024 – The CICA Secretariat successfully hosted the annual CICA Day Football Tournament, bringing together teams from the diplomatic missions of six CICA Member States and one international organization. This year's participants included representatives from China, Kazakhstan (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan), Republic of Korea, Russia, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, and the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), alongside the CICA Secretariat.
In a highly competitive and friendly atmosphere, Uzbekistan secured third place after a well-fought match against the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan. The final showdown between IOFS and Russia kept spectators on the edge of their seats, ending in a 1-1 draw. Extra time and a dramatic penalty shootout followed, with IOFS becoming the winner of the tournament.
Before the award ceremony, Ambassador Doulat Kuanyshev, speaking on behalf of CICA Secretariat, underscored the tournament's importance in bringing people together. "This tournament is a reflection of CICA’s mission to encourage closer ties between our Member States through shared experiences. Events like these help foster trust and mutual respect," he said.
Ambassador Kuanyshev congratulated the winning teams and thanked all participants for their sportsmanship and spirited competition.
The CICA football tournament has become a cherished tradition, strengthening relationships and reinforcing CICA's dedication to fostering cooperation through informal yet meaningful exchanges.
