CICA Member States renew their support to CICA Secretariat through voluntary contributions

Astana, 4 December 2025 — The Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Ambassador Kairat Sarybay, held separate meetings at the CICA Headquarters with the Ambassadors of the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Tajikistan to mark their recent voluntary financial contributions to the budget of the CICA Secretariat. The continued readiness of Member States to support the Secretariat is a clear demonstration of confidence in the purpose of CICA and an essential factor enabling the effective implementation of its mandate.

Welcoming H.E. Mr. Cho Tae-ick, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, the Secretary General expressed his warm appreciation for Korea’s continued support, noting that the country has been providing voluntary financial contributions to the Secretariat on a regular basis since 2006. He emphasized that this sustained assistance reflects Korea’s strong engagement with CICA’s activities and its consistent interest in promoting constructive cooperation throughout the region. The Secretary General underlined that Korea’s experience in information technology and energy security offers valuable opportunities for further collaboration. He also conveyed gratitude for the donation of the statue of a Pensive Bodhisattva, facilitated by the Ambassador of Korea, which now enhances the cultural environment of the new Headquarters as a graceful reminder of Asia’s shared heritage.

In his meeting with H.E. Mr. Khairullo Ibodzoda, Ambassador of Tajikistan, the Secretary General expressed appreciation for Tajikistan’s voluntary contribution and noted that the country has been a reliable supporter of the CICA platform. He recalled that during Tajikistan’s Chairmanship in 2018-2020, CICA experienced dynamic institutional development, strengthening its foundation for subsequent progress. Tajikistan continues to be actively engaged in the practical dimension of CICA’s work, including as Coordinator in the priority area of Tourism. Ambassador Sarybay also expressed gratitude for the impressive carved wooden main gates presented to the Headquarters by H.E. President Emomali Rahmon of the Republic of Tajikistan, which have become a distinctive feature admired by visitors for their craftsmanship and cultural symbolism.

The Secretary General stressed that the voluntary contributions of the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Tajikistan make a tangible difference to the Secretariat’s operations and support joint efforts aimed at expanding cooperation, enhancing mutual understanding and promoting confidence across the CICA region.
