
Astana, 20 March 2026 – Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Ambassador Kairat Sarybay met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermek Koserbayev.
During the meeting, the counterparts engaged in a substantive exchange of views on the key directions for CICA’s further development amid growing turbulence in international relations and the emergence of a new security architecture in Asia. The discussions focused on preparations for the Seventh CICA Summit, to be held in Baku on 15 October 2026, as well as on the steady advancement of CICA’s institutional transformation into a full-fledged international organization.

The Minister reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s unwavering commitment to strengthening CICA’s capacity as a relevant multilateral platform for dialogue and interaction, emphasizing the country’s readiness to continue active and substantive engagement in implementing its priority initiatives.
The Secretary General expressed his appreciation to Kazakhstan for its consistent political, financial and institutional support for CICA, highlighting the country’s key role as the initiator of CICA and one of the main drivers of its transformation and institutional strengthening.
The parties noted the steady progress in developing the draft CICA Charter and underscored its importance for building trust and implementing the key initiatives of the Seventh Summit.
They reaffirmed their willingness to take joint action to improve institutional mechanisms and promote measures aimed at reinforcing a resilient regional security architecture.
