The Republic of Kazakhstan plans to hold the Rally of Volunteer Movement Leaders of the CICA Countries under the auspices of the СICA Youth Council. This international event will bring together CICA Member States to generate concerted efforts in addressing various social, economic, and environmental challenges through volunteering. The Minister level meeting of the CICA Youth Council will be a part of the Rally.
Participants will be provided with a platform to share knowledge, experience and best practices in the field of volunteering. Training and workshops will also be organized, as well as opportunities to create networks for future cooperation.

CICA Rally of Volunteer Movement Leaders 2024:
Uniting Efforts Through Volunteering
On 3 and 4 October 2024, the Republic of Kazakhstan, under the auspices of the CICA Youth Council, plans to hold the CICA Rally of Volunteer Movement Leaders. The initiative to hold the Rally was proposed by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the Sixth CICA Summit in October 2022. This initiative was also supported by the CICA Ministerial Council, which at its informal meeting on 21 September 2023 in New York adopted the Statement on Promoting Volunteerism for Sustainable Development.
This international event will bring together leaders of volunteer organizations, active volunteers, as well as representatives of government agencies in charge of volunteering from CICA Member States. Participants will be provided with a platform to share knowledge, experience and best practices in the field of volunteering. Training and workshops will be organized, an opportunity will be provided to share experiences and create networks of future cooperation.
The event will also be attended by CICA Secretary General Ambassador K. Sarybay, State Counsellor of the Republic of Kazakhstan E. Karin, Minister of Culture and Information A. Balayeva.
The goals and objectives of the event: The Rally aims to promote intercultural understanding and build confidence among participants, fostering peaceful coexistence and cooperation across the Asian continent.
The main objectives of the Rally include uniting efforts and sharing knowledge, experience and best practices in the field of volunteering, as well as stimulating and developing the volunteer movement in Asia, in particular through training sessions and workshops for participants.
Programme: A number of key events are planned to be held within the framework of the Rally, including:
As part of the Rally, a volunteer action will be organized to plant the Alley of the Youth of Asia. In addition, cultural events will include excursions to Astana's landmarks and a visit to a theatrical production at the Astana Opera.
In parallel with the Rally, on 3 October at 10:00 a.m., the 7th meeting of the CICA Youth Council will take place at the level of heads of agencies responsible for volunteering and youth policy. The meeting will focus on the importance of volunteerism in society and its role in the sustainable development of Asia. The Rally is expected to adopt recommendations for the joint development of volunteerism in the CICA area.
Partners and organizers: The organizers of the event are the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia. Among the partners is the UN Volunteers Programme.
Background information:
CICA is the largest intergovernmental forum in Asia, covering about 90% of the territory and population of Asia and promoting multilateral cooperation in five dimensions: military-political, new challenges and threats, economic, environmental and human. Ten countries and five international organizations, including the UN, hold observer status.
The Youth Council is an advisory body responsible for coordinating the activities of its member youth organizations, associations and movements of the CICA Member States. The CICA Youth Council was established in 2014 in order to promote comprehensive cooperation among the CICA Member States towards strengthening interaction, peace and friendship in Asia.
