CICA Member States share experience in poverty alleviation at a seminar organized by China




A seminar on poverty alleviation for CICA Member States, organized by the People’s Republic of China, was held online on 17-18 November 2022.

China, as coordinator in the priority area of agriculture under the CICA economic dimension, in cooperation with the CICA Secretariat provided a platform for the exchange of experience in the field of poverty alleviation in the region, which was attended by delegates from the Yangling Demonstration Zone, representatives of agricultural associations, representatives of the CICA Secretariat, as well as officials and diplomats of Member States of the Organization.

In her welcoming speech, CICA Deputy Executive Director Ms. Chi Fang thanked the Chinese side for organizing and holding an important and constructive event in the priority area of agriculture and stressed the importance of exchanging relevant information on methods of reducing poverty and ensuring food security in the CICA region.

During the two-day seminar with the participation of more than 100 participants from Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, China, Iraq, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Qatar, Russia, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the Chinese side shared relevant information and its rich experience in poverty alleviation, rural regeneration and the introduction of e-commerce, including during the COVID-19 pandemic, and presented the basic aspects, practical measures and innovations in the sector by making optimal use of available resources.
