The headquarters of the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) hosted a ceremony on 11 May 2023 where the United Arab Emirates made its voluntary contribution to CICA activities.
A symbolic check was handed over to CICA Secretary General Kairat Sarybay by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UAE to the Republic of Kazakhstan Dr Mohamed Alariqi.
The United Arab Emirates is a traditional donor of voluntary contributions to the CICA budget and a leader among the Member States in this matter.
Speaking at the ceremony, the CICA Secretary General expressed gratitude to the UAE Government for the funds transferred, noting that contributions to the activities of the regional multilateral mechanism aimed at ensuring peace and security are a significant input to the promotion of peaceful cooperation and development initiatives.
According to Ambassador Sarybay, the budget of the Conference is spent reasonably and transparently and is regularly audited with subsequent reporting by the Secretariat to the CICA Member States.
The Secretary General informed Ambassador Dr Mohamed Alariqi about the current agenda of CICA. The parties discussed the issues of the Conference, including those where the priorities of the UAE converge with the priorities of CICA.
Ambassador Kairat Sarybay expressed his intention to visit Abu Dhabi in order to hold bilateral consultations on a wide range of CICA-related issues.
