CICA Secretary General takes part in Second Eurasian Economic Forum




Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia Ambassador Kairat Sarybay took part in the Second Eurasian Economic Forum and held consultations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Center for East Asian and SCO Studies of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations.

Addressing the Forum participants at the session “EAEU–SCO–BRICS: Open Integration Dialogue”, K. Sarybay spoke about the current activities of CICA, the priorities of its development, as well as about the possible role of the Organization in the network of interaction among multilateral forums and international organizations in the vast expanse of the Eurasian continent. The Secretary General noted the need for synergy of regional associations, and stressed the importance of multilateral processes and integration formats for achieving economic development goals.

Ambassador Sarybay also took part in the Plenary Session of the Second Eurasian Economic Forum with the participation of the heads of state of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Armenia. In their speeches, the participants noted the importance of further integration by developing existing and creating new formats of cooperation.

As part of the visit, the Secretary General held a meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrey Rudenko, where the parties considered topical issues of the CICA agenda in the context of the implementation of the decisions of the Sixth Summit of the Organization.

The Secretary General also held a meeting with Dr. Alexander Lukin, Director of the MGIMO Center for East Asian and SCO Studies. The sides discussed the prospects for cooperation within the framework of the CICA Think Tank Forum (TTF). Ambassador Sarybay invited Dr. Lukin to participate in the 11th TTF meeting in August 2023 in Qinghai (China).
