The Executive Director of the CICA Secretariat, Ambassador Kairat Sarybay met with Charge d'Affaires of the Sultanate of Oman, Mr. Salah Salim Jaboob, at his request, on November 19, 2020.


The Executive Director of the CICA Secretariat, Ambassador Kairat Sarybay met with Charge d'Affaires of the Sultanate of Oman, Mr. Salah Salim Jaboob, at his request, on November 19, 2020.

Mr. Jaboob informed that following up the consultations the CICA Chairmanship held with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, the parties agreed to consider the prospects of Oman’s engagement with the CICA. He noted that the purpose of his visit is to obtain first-hand information on CICA process particularities with a view to update the headquarter on the findings.

Ambassador K.Sarybay briefed the interlocutor on all the current going at the CICA platform. It was noted that the CICA is a broad international forum, created 28 years ago at the initiative of the First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. The CICA mission is to establish the trust and deepen cooperation through the implementation of concrete confidence building measures in five agreed dimensions.

Ambassador K.Sarybay underlined that the aim of CICA is to expand a common ground for cooperation of Member States including those which are involved in a long term conflicts. This is a unique platform where political opponents collaborate in the framework of joint projects, such as skills upgrading courses, seminars, conferences, sharing information on issues of five agreed dimensions.

Ambassador K.Sarybay noted that the essential instruments for advancing the CICA process have been created and are functioning successfully.

The Ambassador assured that the Secretariat will be fully supportive to assist the Sultanate of Oman in accomplishing the appropriate procedures.
