On 5 December 2023, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) held a Special Working Group (SWG) meeting under the Chairmanship of Kazakhstan, facilitated by the CICA Secretariat.
Member States discussed and advanced preparations for the final Senior Officials Committee meeting of the year, which is expected to approve the annual plan of confidence building measures (CBMs) and the budget of the CICA Secretariat for 2024.
Besides finalizing these key planning documents of the organization, the SWG also agreed on new concept papers on implementation of CBMs in the priority areas of environment protection and the natural disaster management. Thereby, further significant progress was achieved in keeping CICA core activities up to date with current needs of its Member States.
