31 January 2024 – Astana– Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Ambassador Kairat Sarybay met with Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Yerlan Nyssanbayev.
The counterparts addressed the preparations for the CICA Ministerial Conference on Environmental Issues scheduled for August 2024 in Astana. As is known, the initiative to convene the forum was put forth by Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during the Sixth CICA Summit and supported by all participants of the Conference.
The meeting covered substantive and organizational aspects of the upcoming event.
Minister Yerlan Nyssanbayev highlighted the relevance and timeliness of the forthcoming conference, underscored the Kazakh side's commitment to hosting it at the highest level and informed in detail about the updates on the preparatory work.
Ambassador Kairat Sarybay commended the progress made in discussing the concept paper of the Ministerial Conference and expressed his hope that the draft outcome document would be finalized as soon as possible.
The meeting participants agreed to continue collaborative efforts.
