16 March 2024 — Astana — The Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, with the support of the Akimat (Mayor's Office) of Astana, organized a ski tour for the second time, with the participation of ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in the capital of Kazakhstan. The event marked the end of the winter season.
Expressing gratitude to the skiing enthusiasts, the CICA Secretary General underscored the significance of such events for building confidence and people-to-people contacts. Ambassador Kairat Sarybay provided a brief overview of the key events shaping CICA's trajectory in 2024, and highlighted the significance of the latest Senior Officials Committee recommendation on the Chairmanship of Azerbaijan in the years 2024-2026.
Over the last three years, the CICA Secretariat has undertaken several initiatives to promote closer cooperation among heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Astana, including events such as hiking tours and the creation of the CICA Alley, bicycle tours, ski tours, football tournaments, iftar dinners, and summer parties.
